Steps For The Perfect Cold Brew Coffee
- Grind the coffee beans in the coffee grinder to a coarse grind of the same consistency as raw sugar or about the same size as demerara. Depending on the nature of the coffee grinder, the grinding may have to be done in batches.
- Pour the ground coffee into a pitcher or jar and add water.
- Stir the mixture continuously ensuring all the ground coffee gets wet and a uniform blend is formed.
- Cover the jar and place the brew in the refrigerator for about 18 – 24 hours.
- Place a fine mesh strainer with cheesecloth over a large enough cup or similar receptacle and slowly strain the coffee concentrate.
- After straining, pour the coffee to a more appropriate airtight container for prolonged storage. Then place in the refrigerator for about a fortnight.
- When ready to serve, fill a glass with ice cubes and pour a half cup of cold brew coffee over the ice. Then add a half cup of cold water and stir to blend.
Now you can sit back and enjoy your glass of coffee!

- Ensure you strain the coffee slowly. It is best if you could come up with a straining system that is solely dependent on gravity to slowly separate the grounds from the cold brew. Cheesecloth or a filter would be appropriate for this.
